Friday 15 November: CCTV of Subway machete and hammer robbers

CCTV footage has been issued of the moment a robber raised a machete towards a female shop assistant during a robbery at a Subway in Clayton. 

The incident happened shortly before 7.15pm on Tuesday 5 November 2013 at the Subway store on Ashton New Road. 

Three masked men came into the store shortly before closing time and while one stayed next to the door to keep guard, the other two men, one armed with a machete and the other with a hammer, ran into the restaurant.

The offenders stole cash before running out of the shop towards Seymour Road South.

Thursday 14 November: Spiderman and gang rob pub in Droylsden

A robber sporting a Spiderman mask was one of three robbers that targeted the Gardener's Arms pub on Edge Lane in Droylsden at around 11.55pm on Tuesday 12 November.

Detective Sergeant Phil Parker said: "This was a terrifying experience for all affected. The robbers were armed and had thought out how to carry out this crime. They need to be caught.

"We have released the image of the man with the distinctive Spiderman mask to appeal to witnesses or anyone who may have vital information."

Wednesday 13 November: Bodies found in suspected mother and son 'murder-suicide'

On Tuesday 12 November police found the bodies of Stephen Dohoney, 55, and his mother, Olwen Dohoney, 86.

It is believed that Stephen murdered the mother that he cared for full-time before hanging himself at the house on Saltdene Road in Woodhouse Park, Wythenshawe.

The tragic discovery was made by a neighbour who had a key to the house. Reports suggest a bloodied knife was found inside the property.

Detective Chief Inspector Colin Larkin said: “At this time we are making initial enquiries into the death of this man and woman and a post mortem is yet to take place.

“The community will be understandably concerned therefore we do have extra patrols in the area to offer some reassurance.

“A full investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths is now underway.”

Tuesday 12 November: Rotten tooth robber punches woman unconscious in Wigan

A rotten-toothed robber punched a woman in the face three times while trying to steal her purse on Norwood Avenue, Beech Hill.

The 37-year-old victim was punched so hard during the attack around midday on Saturday 9 November that she blacked out. Strangely, the robber didn't then take the woman's purse.

The robber was described as white, about 5ft 8in tall, around 30-years-old with rotten, yellow teeth. He was wearing a dark blue tracksuit and blue jeans.

Luckily, the victim only suffered minor injuries.

Monday 11 November: Increase in theft of paving stones in Wigan. Thieves streets ahead, police to explore all avenues

Officers in Wigan are determined to track down thieves that are targeting houses, particularly in Pemberton, stealing York Stone flagstones, which can reach prices of around £55 per square metre.

Since early August 2013, officers have recorded a large number of thefts with houses on Ormskirk Road (A577) particularly affected: "The overnight thefts have taken place overnight", said a police spokesman. Funny that.

Police are appealing for information and asking residents to be extra vigilant, suggesting that tools and a heavy goods vehicle are being used during the night to extract the stone.

Sunday 10 November: Droylsden man charged following sexual assault at Stretford bus stop 

Jason Padley, 43, of Farrar Road, Droylsden has been charged with sexual assault following an indecent assault at a bus stop in Stretford.

At about 1.30pm on Thursday 26 September, a 16-year-old girl was waiting at a bus stop on Chester Road when the offender sat next to her and touched her inappropriately.

After he left, the victim found a white liquid on her, thought to be semen.

He is due before court on 29 November.

Saturday 9 November: Broadheath IT worker tied up with computer cable

At around 11pm on Sunday 27 October, a 25-year-old IT developer was working late at his his place of work on Caspian Road, Broadheath, when the offenders managed to prise open a locked front door.

The offenders threatened the victim with a gun, demanded iPads and other items, pushed him to the floor, knocked him unconscious, pinned him under a chair and tied him up with computer cable.

The ethnicity of the offenders is not known. One of the men was 6ft tall, of medium build and wearing a light coloured tracksuit and light coloured hat.

Another was about 5ft 8in tall, of stocky build, wearing a two tone jacket with the hood up.

The third man was wearing a balaclava, was about 5ft 8in tall, of slim build and wearing a dark jacket and trousers.
