Cocktails now delivered to your door from Cottonopolis, Cultureplex, The Jane Eyre and more…

As the government recently announced another three weeks of lockdown - though even longer is expected - thoughts turn inevitably to the liquor cabinet. Your wine rack may be looking a bit depleted or perhaps you’ve had one too many crowlers from the local brewery. Now, more than ever, variety is the (Bacardi) spice of life.

All profits will go to the local teams to help support them through this very tough time for the hospitality industry

Current guidelines maintain that alcohol is classed as an 'essential item' so it’s imperative that Brits must maintain their embarrassing boozy reputation even in these (take a shot) unprecedented times. So what’s the hot drinking trend for lockdown week four? Why, it’s cocktails from your favourite mixologists delivered right to your door. So get your glasses on ice, it's quarantini time.

Cocktails In The City 3

Bacardi have teamed up with a bunch of Manchester mixologists for a new cocktail delivery service that will change its menu every three weeks. All profits will go to the local teams to help support them through this very tough time for the hospitality industry.

Among the drinks on offer this week, there’s The Good Citizen (£12 for a two person serving), created by Adam Wilson from The Liars Group which blends Bacardi Cuatro Rum, Martini Fiero (a bittersweet, blood-red orange vermouth), bergamot-scented Earl Grey syrup, lemon and orange bitters. Perfect for those strictly following protocol by spending all day in the garden drinking everything (tea, lemonade, Berocca...) from a Martini glass.

Or how about taking the strain out of lockdown with an Apple of my Eye from the creative crew at Cottonopolis? It combines Bombay Sapphire, spiced apple, Sauvignon Blanc and Calvados for a really a-peeling tipple.

World-travelling, multi-award-winning Mancunian muddler Joe Schofield, who is due to open his own bar in the city at some point in the future, has rustled up a treat for ver-mouth with a Cucumber Cooler using his very own Schofield’s dry vermouth with Bombay Sapphire gin and cucumber tonic.

You can order all of these and more on Deliveroo, but be quick if there's one of these that you have your heart set on, the menu changes frequently.

Jane Eyre Bar 1

The Drinks Drop is another new cocktail delivery service that's far from old fashioned. It’s a partnership between Highball Brands and some of the most celebrated bars in the city. This schnappy service is only available in London and Manchester at the moment.

Amongst the drinks on offer are a coffee Mai-Tai from Grindsmith, using their own high-grade cold brew coffee roasted in Manchester; The Jane Eyre’s House Collins with grapefruit and Ramsbury single estate vodka; and Nature’s Virtue, a sweeter take on the Negroni from the team at Edinburgh Castle - one of our highest scored restaurants of 2019.

If you live in Ancoats you might like to complete the Cutting Room Square experience with a cycle delivery from Hip Hop Chip Shop. Or how about ordering a finish-at-home chef box from the seriously hip Higher Ground pop up.

If you fancy your home mixology skills to be better than the professionals’, there also are some unusual high-end spirits and mixers available by the bottle in their online store and ice can be delivered too.
