Back with its biggest event to date, Manchester Duck Race returns on Good Friday

Tens of thousands of visitors are expected to flock to the banks of the River Irwell on Friday 14 April, as Manchester Duck Race returns for its eighth innings.

All proceeds from the quackers annual event - which sees thousands of yellow ducks race down the River Irwell - go to Brainwave, a local charity that helps children with brain injuries access educational and physical therapies throughout the UK.

Want to try your luck? Ducks cost just £1 each.

With the biggest race to date, this year’s rubber revelry spans both sides of the River Irwell; Spinningfields and New Bailey will both host a plethora of family activities, including fairground rides and a petting farm.

And they're off...

Also taking place on the day is a corporate race, in which local businesses (including Confidential) sponsor and decorate a large rubber duck. Entrants to the corporate race are encouraged to be as creative as possible when decorating their waterfowl, but are not permitted to make any changes that give their entrant an unfair advantage.

Carole Headley, Development Manager for Brainwave, said: “We are delighted to be bringing the race back to Manchester and to have Bathroom Takeaway as our sponsor for the second year running is absolutely fantastic. We can’t thank them and our event partners Spinningfields and New Bailey enough for their ongoing support.”

Free to attend, the fun starts at 12pm and the first race will commence at 2pm with surprise celebrity guests announcing the winners.
