Christy bath and bed linens made with love and care in Manchester

SNUGGLE up, we have a wonderful story to tell. It’s a story that stretches all the way back to 1850, when Christy’s cotton mill began weaving the softest bath towels the world has ever seen. Established in Manchester by Henry Christy, the linen brand took its core values innovation, luxury, trust and integrity – and those remain the same in the 21st century.

From that day to this, Christy has been filling homes with unmistakably British products – luxury towels, bed linen and soft accessories – each designed with love and made to last. Next year, the brand celebrates its 170th birthday and it still proudly interweaves traditional techniques and timeless craftsmanship with the newest textile innovations and expertise from all over the world, echoing its home city’s proud journey from industrial powerhouse to international destination.

Using superior yarns and high thread counts, Christy’s collections are crafted with meticulous attention to detail and an openness to innovate. The brand’s unique Hygro technology, for example, means that the towels in the Supreme range get fluffier with every wash, thanks to 100% Supima Combed Cotton in the loops and a weighty 650 gram weave. As well as bath linen, including towels of all shapes and sizes, Christy produces high-quality bed linen – sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers and so on – plus soft accessories like cushions, throws and rugs. There is even a gift range, perfect for birthdays and Christmas, which includes branded sports towel ranges for football and tennis fans along with luxurious personalised robes made for hunkering down in your very own Winter Wonderland.

The brand also draws on a passion for design and colour, originally enriched and inspired by founder Henry Christy’s own creative ideas and global travels (he loved to explore farflung countries and collect exotic artefacts), and now equally drawing on heritage influences closer to home – such as the Pilkington glazed tiles at Manchester’s Victoria Baths, which have been used to create a beautiful backdrop to the latest Christy campaign.

This is a luxe brand with the looks to match – and to last as well, as classic quality is the name of the game. Christy design manager Lucy Ackroyd agrees that the UK design team continues to dream up original collections to define homes and living, saying: “Being a brand with real heritage inspires you to create things of character and beauty that will last.”
